Step 5 Be Proactive
Being proactive is one of the most important steps in having a great life. Being proactive means you’re willing to go out and take action in your life to make it better, not just sitting back and whinging about how life treats you.
Proactive people are the people that you see every morning about 6 a clock walking the streets for exercise. They are also the people that run their own business and are active members of the community. Sport stars, movie actors or music stars are also proactive people. They are the people that have decided that no matter what, they are going to be successful in life. They don’t leave it to chance, they take action.
You too need to take action in your life if you want to be successful. That means if you’re waiting for something to happen in your life to make it better you could be waiting a long time. If you want something in your life, you need to go out and get it. No one is going to do your work for you; it ups to you to make your life better.
Another way to be proactive is to look for new things in your life. I was in a cafe the other day listening to some, let’s say mature, women talking about computers. One was talking about a free program, Skype, which allows her to talk to her friends and family worldwide for free on the internet instead of using a phone.
I was truly impressed. Too many people at her age or younger would not even consider using a computer let allow a new program. But what is showed to me was a person that was willing to look for something new in her life to make it better.
This can be you too. You need to be constantly looking for new things in your life. New things, whether they are people, ideas, items that helps to keep life exciting. It keeps it fresh and keeps the mind open to new possibilities and more acceptable of change.
And there’s our next point, change. To ensure that you can be ready to take action and look for new things in life you need to ready to accept change in your life.
The only constant in the universe is change. Change happens in our lives every day and you can’t stop it. Too many people complain about changes in their lives and spit the dummy when it happens. But for all the whinging and complaining it never changes back. And in the long run, if you don’t accept change then you are left on the rubbish heap.
There are plenty of businesses that have shut down over the years because they refused to acknowledge that change was happening in their area. They put their heads in the sand and kept going with what they believed to be right, until they were proven wrong and were forced to close.
This doesn’t need to be you. You need to be staying up to date with the latest information, and actively seeking change in your life. If you look for change, whether it is at work, in your relationships, in your body or where ever, then you will be more willing to accept it when it comes.
So let’s recap. Being proactive means taking action in your life to get what you want. It also includes looking for new things in your life that will make it better. And it also means encouraging and accepting change in your life.
So get out there and take control of your life and start enjoying it again.
