Over this week Year 12 Students from across the state will say goodbye to school for the last time. They will take the coming holidays to prepare for the HSC exam. Then they will be free for the first time to decide what they want to do with their lives. For some this will be a happy time, for others it will be a time of sadness as they are forced out of the comfort and predictable routine that school has given them for the last 13 years. For those who are worried about the future I offer you this, Death.

I say death, as the death card is the best card you can pull out of a Tarot deck. Death does not mean you face a horrible ending in the near future, in means change, new beginnings and transformation. It symbolises the end of an old cycle and beginning of a new. It tells you to learn from you past, let go of it and move on to the new a glorious future that awaits you.

No matter whom you are, a Year 12 student or not, you must always be willing to let go of the past and move towards the future. You can achieve nothing by sitting around wishing that things hadn’t ended. It stops you from seeing new opportunities in your life.

Too many people like to sit back and reminisce but it doesn’t achieve anything. Yes when you were younger things were better. Yes people had more respect for themselves and each other. Yes we could leave the doors open of a night time or when we went out. Yes it all looks better when we deny the awful truth of our past and paint it up better than it actually was.

But whether or not the past was better, it is still the past. It was good, but I would rather think about how good my future is going to be, rather than thinking about how good things were. All the people of this world that have everything they want in life don’t focus on the past they focus on what the future will bring.

So it is now time to change. Let go of old beliefs that may be stopping you from going forward in your life or business. Just because something has always been that way does not mean it has to be like that forever. Take a leap of faith and see what the future holds.

If you are a Year 12 student, I wish you the best of luck in everything that you do in life. You future is bright and brilliant and it has so much to offer. Keep your ideas fresh and new and don’t allow yourself to get into ruts or dwell on the past.

For those of us who are not finishing school, look around you and see what needs to put to rest and what needs to revitalised. Drop you old fashion beliefs and stop living in the past. Take a chance, do something new and live again.

I will end this week with a short quote that I came up with some time ago.

Tradition: A custom, habit, experience of regular occurrence followed by people to stupid to come up with new ideas.

All ways have a new idea

P.S. the new page is up and running.
