Motivation: Get the Right Team

When you start a new business, you are keen and motivated to make it all work. You have put a lot of thought behind it and you want to see it succeed. This is your baby and you are prepared to work hard and do as much as you can to help keep the cost down. It sound sensible and it is often advice given by so call experts. However, it is bad advice.

As much as we may like to think that we can achieve everything by ourselves through our own hard work, the truth is it is just not possible. No matter what your level of motivation may be or how much you may try you cannot do everything yourself. As a new business owner you will not have enough knowledge or skills to complete all of your goals buy yourself. You need to have a team of people around you that can help you and push you forward.

No matter what it is you are doing, you need other people to help you. Whether you are trying to run a business, starting out as an investor, or attempting to become a world class athlete, you will need the knowledge, skills, support and motivation of others around you.

As you start out on your new adventure, you will find out how much you really don’t know about what you are doing. You may start a business in clothing and you may have a great eye for fashion, but, that does not mean that you have extensive knowledge about accounting or marketing. And the sad truth is that no matter how motivated and passionate about your business you may be, if you don’t master these areas, then the business can fail.
Choose the right people to help you

Knowing a lot about what you want to do is good, but knowing, and accepting that you don’t know everything, is important. It is not possible to know everything either, no matter how willing you are to learn. If you spend all your time learning how to be an expert in all facets of your business, you will not have time to actually run your business. You will also kill the passion and motivation you have for you business.

A smart business person knows that they don’t have to be an expert in all areas of their business. In a business, you need to be motivated seek out people that know more about certain areas of the business than you do. This includes accounting, marketing and human resources experts. They help to fill in your area of weakness and help your business to grow.  These people become your team.

By collecting a great team of people that can help you, sooner rather than later, you can reach your goals quicker. As your team has probably had vast amounts of experiences in their chosen field, they have seen the short cuts that are available, as well as pitfalls that you may face. They can help and guide you so that you have a better chance at succeeding.

Teams help to motivate you
One of the problems that most people face when they start out is that they want to retain complete control over their business. It is their baby, and they know exactly what they want from it. Unfortunately they just don’t know how to make some of it work. So instead of seeking assistance, they try to learn just the basics, and hope that it will get them through.

What ends up happening is the business fails and they go broke. Their dreams are shattered, they lose their motivation and they go back to a job, which they probably hate, and give up on ever trying again. This is the sad outcome for many first time business owners.

Thankfully, some people learn from their mistakes, pull themselves up and try again. They realize that they cannot do everything and start to seek out people that have a better understanding of marketing, or accounting, or whatever it is that they need to do better. They then become a successful business and reach their dreams and goals.
Get ahead faster

The important thing to remember is, no matter what you want to do, find people that can help you.  These people need to be experts and be both passionate and motivated in their areas. Some of the help may come for free; others will need to be paid for. Seek out people that have done what you want to do. Find out what worked for them, what didn’t and go back to them on a regular basis, getting more guidance.

If your do this you will be far better off, and hopefully achieve what is it that you want without having to fail first.

P.S. The most important thing to remember is that the idea of having a team of people around you is not just for businesses. This can work in every aspect of your life.  If you need motivation, seek out people that motivate you. If you are trying to lose weight, seek out people that can help you to shed the pounds. No matter what you are doing, get help, and you will achieve your dreams quicker than you could imagine.
